remarkable work with light and shadow! kumi yamashita was influenced as a child, traveling the world with her family, by such issues as racial discrimination, religious controversies, and prejudgement. her work has been shaped by a desire to address these issues, as she "began using letters, numbers, and shadows to illustrate our tendency to define what we see by transforming it into something already known." this is a permanent display at the nanba parks tower in okasawa, japan. The numbers on the wall, lit from the right, cast a shadow of a woman. amazing!
