paper art of the day: sounds of silence

in the 2006 installation series sounds of silence, petra eichler (architect) and susanne kessler (artist) created "spaces in which silence becomes an experience in itself. the resulting atmosphere projects a stillness on the observer, both mentally and physically. the visitor leaves behind the layers of everyday noise and is led into an unusual situation brimming with poetry."
made of white paper silhouettes, in sound1 a natural landscape evolved and the visitor was invited to become a part of the environment, walking in and among the scene as the light changed and stillness emerged. to see a short film of the experience, go here. beautiful!
