lia halloran has an mfa in painting and printing from yale. she's also a skater, living in l.a., whose passions include skating, physics, and light. while on a research grant in chile, lia worked with top scientists studying the night sky through high-powered telescopes. this experience led her to the series dark skate, for which she attached a wrist or bike light and skated abandoned and forbidden areas of los angeles, captured by photographer and filmmaker meredyth wilson. these images are so compelling and lyrical!
