cliff spencer coined the term wine oak to refer to wine-stained oak used in the fermentation process to impart flavor to wine. he regularly uses the discarded white oak staves of a napa valley winery in his furniture designs, like this table and bench, which, i would imagine, smell quite good. no other stains are used on these custom-made pieces, and he also uses non-toxic adhesives, recycled cores, and plant-based finishes.
