two amazing installations by ball-nogues studio ~ an integrated design and fabrication practice that creates experimental built environments to enhance and celebrate the potential for social interaction through sensation, spectacle and physical engagement while striving to infuse the matter of the built environment with a downstream purpose. liquid sky (pinks) was the winning design for an outdoor courtyard at p.s.1 contemporary art cetner (an affiliate of moma) in '07. maximilian's schell (yellow) was an outdoor room commissioned by exhibition space materials & applications in '05, which also included an ambient sound and light installation. both were created with transluscent, tinted mylar petals, which during daylight cast fractal light patterns onto the ground. read more about these and other stunning projects (such as an incredible, very large scale string pattern) here.{via notcot}
