imaginary drizzle

when i was maybe 7, i gave my mom the most ridiculous gift for mother's day. i made essentially a pillow, in the shape of a cloud and rainbow, with satin ribbons hanging loosely as rain. i sketched the design onto the fabric (with those markings still visible in the completed project, ha) and handstitched it. and if i remember correctly, i used markers to color the lines of the rainbow ~ very fancy! i wasn't happy with it just being a pillow, so i convinced my mom to hang it over a lamp, to approximate the light of the sun behind the cloud (?) ~ i have no idea. anyway, she proudly displayed it this way for quite a while, and i bet if i spent enough time looking, i'd find it somewhere in her house today.

this somehow reminds me of that. only it's a really, really beautiful grown-up version that i'd love to have in my home. i'm afraid i don't know who styled this, but the lovely photos are by carl kleiner, and the fantastic dress is by emma redeskog.
