Facebook announced free mobile service Facebook Zero on Mobile World Congress 2010. New service becomes the facilitated version of a mobile portal m.facebook.com, informs TechCrunch.

To text portal Facebook Zero cellular operators will give access to the subscribers in the nearest some weeks. New service will differ from existing service m.facebook.com absence of multimedia possibilities, for example viewing of photos of friends.

Mobile service m.facebook.com allows all users Facebook to update the status message, to read a news line and to look through profiles of friends on any mobile phone with an exit in the Internet. According to blog Inside Facebook, at the moment access to service m.facebook.com is given by 80 operators in 32 countries of the world.

At the moment the number of users of mobile portals Facebook makes 100 million persons, or a quarter from the general number of subscribers Facebook.

Facebook also suggests users to load the mobile applications developed for mobile phones of known manufacturers. Among them Nokia, Sony-Ericsson, BlackBerry and Apple iPhone, and also devices from OS Google Android and Windows Mobile.
